Campaigns and Initiatives
GALLAN participates in a broad range of grass-root campagins in the LGBT, labor and progressive communities. We seek to build bridges between these communities and fight for economic and social justice for all. These campaigns include:
Solidarity work with unions on strike, contract campaigns and organizing drives
Recent campaigns have included support for the UFCW Star Market organizing campaign, the UNITE-HERE Marriott and H&M clothing store campaigns and the campaign against Cumberland Farms for refusing to offer spousal benefits to spouses of same-sex married employees.
GALLAN "adopted" the Fenway Star Market and has regularly turned out to support the United Food and Commerical workers organizing campaigns there.
Fighting for Gay Marriage and Domestic Partner Benefits
GALLAN members were key in building labor support and lobbying pro-labor legislators in favor of gay marriage in Massachusetts. We continue to fight for equal benefits for domestic partners, not just those who marrry.
Standing firmly against the war in Iraq
GALLAN, as well as the national Pride At Work organization, continues to denounce the war. GALLAN members, and the GALLAN banner, have stood out at countless demonstrtions and rallies, and we will continue to do so.
